More than 280 million consumers live within an 800-kilometer radius, an area that generates a gross domestic product of 8.7 trillion euros. Trucks from Thuringia can reach every major German city with a maximum delivery frequency of five hours.

  • Highways

    In Thuringia, the nearest motorway junction is never far away. Five motorways connect the state and ensure optimal links in all directions:

  • Rail network

    Thuringia's railway network, with 1,509 kilometers of track, is one of the densest in Europe. Erfurt's main station is a hub for high-speed ICE trains. Four ICE trains from all directions arrive here every hour. In total, around 80 ICE trains stop here daily.

    All parts of Thuringia are optimally connected to the ICE train station Erfurt and to railway hubs in neighboring federal states via express local trains.

    Thuringia is connected to fast national and international freight transport via the Erfurt freight transport center with the Erfurt-Vieselbach intermodal terminal.

  • Air traffic

    One of the world's most important airports, Frankfurt am Main Airport , can be reached from Erfurt in about two and a half hours. Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) Munich Airport takes only half an hour longer with the ICE Sprinter . Leipzig/Halle Airport, with Europe's most modern air freight hub – the DHL Hub Leipzig – is about an hour from the state capital of Erfurt.

    Thuringia itself is home to Erfurt-Weimar Airport . It offers state-of-the-art air freight handling facilities and provides ample cargo halls and freight forwarding buildings. TNT Express Deutschland GmbH operates a 3,000 sq m air and road hub at the airport, complete with its own customs clearance.
