  • Erfurter Kreuz - Settlement successes with global players like CATL and N3

    At 439 hectares, it is the largest industrial park in Thuringia. LEG has been developing the "Erfurter Kreuz" since 2005 and has since attracted world-class companies, including the world's largest battery cell manufacturer, Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), and N3 Engine Overhaul Services , a joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and Rolls-Royce.

  • Digital rescue chain

    Saving valuable time and thus saving lives – this was the goal supported by the Digital Agency Thuringia (DAT) within the framework of the Thuringian pilot project for the Digital Rescue Chain. The former pilot project is currently being expanded throughout Thuringia to include ground-based emergency medical services, and the digital pre-registration of emergency patients in the emergency rooms of Thuringian hospitals is being further developed.

    On the way to becoming a modern business, investment and technology location

    • 1992

      LEG was founded in Erfurt on May 15, 1992. Its mission is to act as an instrument of the state government, promoting the development of Thuringia as an investment and business location and improving the quality of life in the Free State.
       

    • 1993

      The start of one of Germany's largest urban development projects: LEG is acquiring land from the Treuhandanstalt (Trust Agency) in the former industrial site of Erfurt-Brühl and will develop the inner-city area into a vibrant district in the coming years.
       

    • 1995

      The Thuringian State Economic Development Corporation (TLW) will be integrated into the LEG. The State Development Corporation will henceforth be responsible for attracting investors and marketing Thuringia.
       

    • 1996

      On the Kindel in Eisenach, a site once used for military purposes, LEG begins the development; as a result, the area develops into an attractive industrial location, providing space for a large number of companies, especially from the vehicle manufacturing sector.
       

    • 1997

      LEG takes over regional management in the “city triangle on the Saale bend” and promotes a large number of projects in the three cities of Saalfeld, Rudolstadt and Bad Blankenburg over the following 15 years.

       

    • 2000

      LEG begins developing the former industrial site Kyffhäuserhütte Artern; in the same year, the conversion project “neues bauen am horn” in Weimar, with which LEG is realizing innovative projects for the living of the future, is an EXPO project.
       

    • 2004

      In Schleusingen, LEG has taken stock of the project's progress: The goal of the comprehensive urban renewal has been largely achieved. Listed buildings have been upgraded, squares have been given a new ambiance, and the old town exudes attractiveness.
       

    • 2005

      With the start of the development of the new industrial site “Erfurter Kreuz” in Arnstadt, LEG is launching a real success story: In just a few years, the new site will attract well-known companies such as Daimler, Masdar PV, Lufthansa, Rolls-Royce, Bosch and IHI.
       

    • 2007

      LEG is committed to reconciling work and family life: In the middle of the year, the "LEG Summer School" for employees' children will premiere. Five years later, in April 2012, LEG, together with the city of Erfurt and partner companies, will celebrate the launch of its own company-run daycare center.

    • 2008

      Ringelberg continues to grow: With the start of the fourth construction phase, LEG is steadily driving forward the development of the largest residential area in Thuringia, thus ensuring a better quality of life in the state capital.

       

    • 2010

      The newly founded Thuringian Energy and GreenTech Agency (ThEGA) will be located within the LEG and, on behalf of the Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs, will drive forward the development of the Free State into the "green engine" in Germany.

       

    • 2011

      The looming skilled worker shortage is being tackled head-on: The Thuringian Agency for Skilled Worker Recruitment (ThAFF) will launch in the spring. It will promote Thuringia as a place to work, target commuters, and collaborate within a network.
       

    • 2012

      LEG is becoming even more international: With the official launch of the "Thuringia International" division, LEG is expanding its activities in the foreign trade sector and focusing on target markets from the USA to China and from Brazil to Russia.

    • 2012

      The Thuringian Cluster Management (ThCM) is being established as an instrument for the expansion and establishment of clusters. As part of the implementation of the Thuringian Innovation Strategy, the state government is locating the RIS3 office within the ThCM to coordinate the implementation process.

    • 2013

      In September, the " Welcome Center Thuringia " will open on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. It will be a comprehensive contact and advisory center for foreign skilled workers as well as for Thuringian companies that want to recruit employees from abroad.
       

    • 2014

      The city of Erfurt and LEG have signed a development agreement for the "ICE City" project. LEG will develop large areas around the ICE hub at Erfurt's main train station. To this end, LEG has concluded an initial purchase agreement with Deutsche Bahn AG for the first section of land.

    • 2015

      The 3rd Thuringian State Garden Show will open in Schmalkalden on April 25th. LEG acted as the urban renewal agency here; among other things, it renovated the western suburbs and expanded the local transport hub at the train station.

       

    • 2016

      LEG is completing extensive restoration and site preparation work at the Rudolstadt-Schwarza site – this will benefit the companies at the site and enable or facilitate the establishment of new companies.
       

    • 2017

      The activities of the Acquisition, International and Cluster Management department are being expanded. A new area of ​​responsibility, "Investment Promotion in the Tourism Industry," is being added.


       

    • 2018

      The Chinese battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd. (CATL) has chosen Thuringia as the location for its new gigafactory. The Free State of Thuringia and CATL have signed an agreement for the factory to be built at the LEG site "Erfurter Kreuz".
       

    • 2019

      The "prizeotel" opens in the immediate vicinity of Erfurt's main train station. This marks the completion of the first visible component of the ICE City Erfurt project.
      Elsewhere, urgently needed (social) housing is being built.

       

    • 2020

      The groundbreaking ceremony for the revitalization of the ESDA industrial site is taking place in Diedorf. LEG is part of a project group and is breathing new life into the former hosiery factory.


       

    • 2021

      Construction has begun in Oberhof on the "Am Dimitroff" residential area. Following numerous contributions to Oberhof's urban development and tourism, LEG is once again playing a key role in making Thuringia's most famous winter sports resort even more attractive.
